It is said that Amaterasu Omikami was born when Izanagi, the creator of the land, parted from Izanami, who had descended to the underworld, and washed away the impurities of the underworld; Amaterasu Omikami was born when Izanagi washed his left eye.
Along with Tsukuyomi, who was born from Izanagi’s right eye at this time, and Susanoo, who was born from his nose, Amaterasu Omikami is called one of the Three Precious Children.
At this time, Izanagi instructed Amaterasu Omikami to rule Takamagahara, and she became the supreme deity.
