There are two types of lighting for Tokyo Tower: ‘Landmark Light’ and ‘Infinity Diamond Veil.’

    ‘Landmark Light’

This is the light that shines towards Tokyo Tower.

It is a standard lighting display where 180 lights illuminate Tokyo Tower, shining with a warm orange base in winter and a cool white base in summer.

Every hour on the hour, the ‘Diamond Tiara’ at the top deck and the ‘Diamond Choker’ at the main deck sparkle with pure white light, which is very beautiful.

     🌸

This temple is located in Taito Ward, Tokyo, and is currently the head temple of the Sacred Kannon (Sho-Kannon) sect.

It is the oldest temple in Tokyo, with a history spanning nearly 1400 years. Known as “Asakusa Kannon,” it has gathered the faith of common people and became a central hub for the development of Edo culture.

Today, it is a major tourist attraction representing Tokyo, visited by many people from both Japan and abroad.

In the spring, 50 cherry blossom trees beautifully bloom, coloring the Nakamise and the temple grounds along the Omotesando approach.

Beyond the Kaminarimon Gate, which is a symbol of Asakusa, the Nakamise-dori street continues, lined with various shops such as restaurants, retro Japanese goods stores, and toy stores, offering a lively atmosphere in the spring.

Every year on April 8th, the “Bussho-e” ceremony is held to celebrate the birth of Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism.

Also known as the “Flower Festival,” visitors can be seen pouring sweet tea onto a small statue of the infant Buddha placed in the “Hana-mido” (flower pavilion) located in the outer sanctuary of the main hall and along the temple approach. The approach is bustling with many visitors throughout the day.

Night Cherry Blossom Sea of Clouds” dyed in cherry blossom colors with a spring garden.

In the garden of Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, in February, the early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms herald the early arrival of spring, followed by the glossy Shuzenji Kanzakura, the lovely Okamezakura, and the large-flowered Yoko cherry blossoms blooming one after another in March.

Furthermore, for about two months from late March to early April, when Someiyoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom, to mid-April, when Yaebeni Shidarezakura bring glamor, about 100 cherry trees of 20 varieties color the garden beautifully. At night, “Night Cherry Blossom Sea of Clouds,” a collaboration between the garden production “Tokyo Sea of Clouds” and cherry blossoms, will also be held.

The three-storied pagoda, which stands as if watching over the garden, was relocated from Takemoto Chikuinji Temple in Higashi Hiroshima to Chinzanso in 1925 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary of relocation in 2025.

You can also see the natural sea of clouds from the place where the three-storied pagoda was located in Takemoto Chikuinji Temple.

It is a historic landscape said that Ono no Takamura, a Heian era bureaucrat and poet related to Takemoto Chikuinji Temple, looked out over the cityscape from the three-storied pagoda and composed a poem: “Ochikochi no mine wo shima ka to misu made kiri no umi nasu Takemoto no sato” (Until I see the peaks here and there as islands, it is like a sea of fog, the village of Takemoto).

  • Meguro River/目黒川

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Q8rkIpPJE]

     🌸

Meguro River is one of Tokyo’s most famous cherry blossom viewing spots. The approximately 4km stretch along the river, lined with 800 cherry trees, is a spectacular tourist attraction.

The cherry blossoms that can be seen are mainly Somei Yoshino, and the pale, whitish-pink flowers evoke the feeling of Japanese spring.

Visiting during the day is also recommended, but at night, the trees are lit up, so you can enjoy the night cherry blossoms that faintly emerge in the night sky. The light-up takes place from sunset until around 8 PM, so if you want to see the night cherry blossoms, visit during that time.

On Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30th, 2025, the ‘Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival’ and the ‘East Area Cherry Blossom Festival’ will be held.

Light-up will be held from sunset to 8 PM from Wednesday, March 19th to Sunday, March 30th. The Bonbori lanterns are scheduled to be lit from Thursday, March 20th (holiday) to Thursday, April 3rd.

The cherry blossom trees that adorn the moat are perfect for a leisurely stroll.

The cherry blossom trees that line the approximately 2km stretch from JR Iidabashi Station to Yotsuya Station make the moat scenery seen from the Sobu Line and Chuo Line train windows look pink and very beautiful.

The promenade, perfect for a walk, is about a 1-hour course if you walk slowly, and the wild cherry blossoms in front of Hosei University nearby are also one of the highlights.

Since the park’s promenade is one step above the roadway, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing while taking a leisurely stroll.

When the blossoms begin to fall, the cherry petals float on the outer moat, creating a scenic view with a different charm from when they are in full bloom.

  • Rikugien Garden/六義園

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR1jWBbaAuI]

     🌸

Rikugien is a metropolitan garden located in 6-chome, Honkomagome, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. It is a Japanese garden of the “kaiyushiki tsukiyama sensui teien” (stroll garden with a central pond and artificial hills) style. It is designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the country.

In 1695, Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu, a close aide to the fifth Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, built a secondary residence on land granted to him by Tsunayoshi, and created the garden there.

The residence was called “Rikugikan” and the garden was called “Rikugien.” The garden name was derived from the “Rikugi” (Six Classics of Poetry) in the “Classic of Poetry” (Shi Jing).

Rikugien’s cherry blossom season illumination event, “Spring Night Rikugien Special Nighttime Viewing,” is a popular spring tradition.

The garden is specially opened at night, when it is normally closed, and various spots, such as the weeping cherry tree, Nakanoshima (central island), Ginka-tei ruins, and Suiko-e, are illuminated, with a focus on the weeping cherry tree.

The weeping cherry tree, which is a symbol of Rikugien, is about 15 meters tall and 20 meters wide, and its appearance floating in the night sky is truly spectacular. There are also events where you can enjoy the atmosphere of a spring night, such as projection mapping on the earthen walls built during the Iwasaki family era, and photo spots.

    🔦

    March 22nd (Saturday) – March 28th (Friday), 2025

6:30 PM – 9:00 PM (Last entry at 8:00 PM)

The garden will close once at 5:00 PM and reopen at 6:30 PM for the special nighttime viewing.

There are two types of nighttime viewing tickets: online advance tickets and same-day tickets at the window.

Advance tickets (900 yen) are only sold online, and same-day tickets (1,100 yen) are sold at the window and online on the day of your visit.

Same-day window ticket sales will be at the Somei Gate, which is the entrance, during the nighttime entry hours (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM).

If you purchase online, you can enter from a priority lane, so we recommend purchasing advance tickets or same-day tickets online.
